The workshop aimed to promote creative expression and inclusion through reading and illustration. In collaboration with a local elementary school, I worked with the children using two Spanish-language picture books as the foundation for the activities. Each child received short, decontextualized excerpts from the books and was encouraged to reinterpret them freely through illustration.
The process allowed each participant to transform selected phrases into unique visual narratives, tapping into their imagination and personal creativity. At the end of the project, we organized a small community exhibition in the NGO’s gallery space, inviting neighbors and families to celebrate the children’s work and share in the experience.
Volunteering project in an NGO in Santiago de Chile
Between October and December 2018, I designed and led a creative workshop for children aged 6 to 9 at Espacio Ailanto, an NGO based in the Yungay neighborhood of Santiago, Chile. The organization is dedicated to fostering inclusive, artistic, and recreational activities, particularly in this culturally vibrant and evolving area, shaped by a strong migrant presence from Venezuela, Peru, and Haiti.
